Our Child Welfare Officer is Rob Byrne. Rob has been coaching from the early days of the Warriors and is one of the lead coaches of the U'9s. He’s CRB checked and has a son playing for the club. The main purpose of the Child Welfare Officer is to be a point of contact in all issues relating to the welfare of young people at the club and to ensure all appropriate documentation and forms are completed eg; CRB forms in accordance with the RFU policy and procedures for the welfare of young people in rugby union.
Rob ensures the club has a child protection policy and the codes of conduct are well published (attached to our Parents Guide and under the Codes of Conduct tab) and adhered to. He attends any courses and meetings recommended by the RFU relevant to this role and has taken the following RFU courses; Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Sport and The Child Welfare Officers course.
We fully comply with the Criminal Records Bureau and all adults who coach, train or supervise children at the Old Wimbledonain Warriors RFC are screened for compliance.
