Our safeguarding Officer is Rob Byrne. Rob has been coaching from the early days of the Warriors and is one of the lead coaches. He’s DBS checked and has a son playing for the club. The main purpose of the safeguarding Officer is to be a point of contact in all issues relating to the welfare and Safeguarding of young people at the club and to ensure all appropriate documentation and forms are completed eg; DBS forms in accordance with the RFU policy and procedures for the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults in rugby union.
Rob ensures the club has a safeguarding policy for young people and the codes of conduct are well published (attached to our Parents Guide and under the Codes of Conduct tab) and adhered to. He attends any courses and meetings recommended by the RFU relevant to this role and has taken the following RFU courses; Safeguarding and Protecting Young People and vulnerable adults in Sport, play it safe, in touch courses and other current safeguarding courses.
Insurance for the Old Wimbledonian Warrior's players is arranged through the RFU Club Insurance policy. Further details of cover for the players can be found on the RFU web site.
We fully comply with the Disclosure and barring service and all adults who coach, train or supervise children at the Old Wimbledonain Warriors RFC are screened for compliance.
